QTSP / eIDAS

Qualified Trust Service Provider under the EU eIDAS regulation.

Definition

A QTSP can issue qualified timestamps (eIDAS art. 42, RFC 3161) under national supervision (in Norway: Nkom). In TSP, qualified time is part of the paid Seal layer — TSP itself is not a QTSP.

Why it matters

Qualified time gives the timestamp legal weight. Without a QTSP the timestamp is a claim made by the issuer.
